In addition to Dr. Armm’s holistic, primary care medical practice at Lotus Integrative Medicine Santa Monica, he also teaches “Meditation I: Introduction to Meditation” to the masters level students at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Armm has been teaching this course every quarter since 2005 to the students at Emperor’s, and more recently, the course was recorded and made available for people who are not enrolled in Chinese medical school but who are interested in learning meditation. Please see below a description of this 10 hour meditation course.
This meditation course is approved by the California Acupuncture Board. Pursuant to Section 1399.483(d) of the Acupuncture Regulations, CE courses designed to be completed on an independent or home study basis (distance education) shall not exceed 50% of the required CE hours.
Introduction to Meditation I

Course Outcomes and Objective
Students will study the fundamental philosophy, form and practice of meditation. Each experiential class will primarily consist of guided or silent meditation practice, but will also include class discussion and lecture. Covering the basic principles of posture, breathing, attention, concentration and awareness, the intention of this course is to empower and inspire students to continue a lifelong, rewarding relationship with “just sitting”. For those who are willing, the purpose of this course and this art form is the cultivation of mind and heart.

Meditation II: The Yin Organs
Course Outcomes and Objective
Students will continue their study in this second course learning intermediate level philosophy, form and practice of meditation. Each experiential class will primarily consist of guided or silent meditation practice, but will also include class discussion and lecture. Covering the intermediate principles via exposure to traditional Taoist images of yin organs, visualizing five channel depths pertaining to each of the six meridians, exploring the five element system, deepening our understanding of yin channels utilizing the ying qi cycle and its connection with spirit cultivation, and gaining exposure to human organs by studying pictures, the intention of this course is to empower and inspire students to develop insight by building comprehensive therapeutic relationships with the six yin organs to continue a lifelong, rewarding relationship with “just sitting”. For those who are willing, the promise of this course and this art form is the cultivation of mind and heart.
